Artanis: Heart of a Warrior

Tue 22nd Dec 2015 - 6:30am Gaming Heroes of the Storm

Welcome to the Artanis Guide.

To understand and know of Artanis' playstyle we much first visit him in his lore. Artanis was and is designed to be a relentless front line hero whom excels in prolonged team fights and dive comps. His trait proccing from him fighting makes it so you want to be hitting something as often as you possibly can while in combat. That being said Artanis is a hard engager, once you go you you're staying in there fighting. Even if the team fights are not going in your favour if need be, it would be best for Artanis to be a decoy to stand and fight while the rest of the team makes it out safely, unless you know your team would be able to peel for you on your escape. Protoss Zealots are honourable warriors who willingly would accept dying in the glory of battle knowing they gave it all they had.

Now lets explore Artanis' kit.

[Q]Blade Dash (10 Second CD): Dash forward dealing damage, then make a return Dash dealing triple the damage of the first Dash [W]Twin Blades(4 Second CD): When this ability is activated your next auto attack will strike 2 times instantly. [E]Phase Prism (14 Second CD): Throw out a prism that does minor damage and will switch your position with the enemy it contacts.  Trait: Shield Overload (20 Second CD):
When at 50% HP or below gain a shield that lasts for 5 seconds. Basic Attacks reduce the cool down of the shield by 4 seconds

Herorics [R]:

Purifier Beam (80 Second CD): Target an Enemy Hero and fire an orbital beam at them for 8 seconds. The beam chases the hero at 70% of standard hero speed. Global Cast Range.  Suppression Pulse (40 Second CD): Fire a Large AoE Pulse doing minor damage and blinding all enemies in the area for 4 seconds. Global Cast Range.

Artanis has 2 main builds for him right now that work out the best for him depending on situations. I shall lay them out for you.

1)Aggression Artanis

 Level 1

Reactive Parry -– Each time you activate Twin blades you gain 1 stack of Block. Can store up to 2 charges by using Twin blades Twice without getting attacked.
-–Reactive Parry is pretty much a must as it gives Artanis a surprising amount more of survivability which you will want for his playstyle.
 Level 4

Lethal Alacrity -– Increases the range and speed of Blade Dash by 30%.
–-This Talent gives him a well needed range increase. Once you are used to his Kit you will be able to pull off some pretty crafty things with the speed increase too!
 Level 7

Warp Sickness —After switching with a target with Phase Prism, the target will have their movement speed slowed by 30% for 3 seconds.
--Artanis lacks a lot of CC as a Warrior and having this talent will help him a lot on picks until 16. If you’re crafty enough with body blocks as well the slow will help you get to take advantage of that. Also Gives Artanis his own slow to combo with his Purifier Beam
 Level 10
                OR

 Purifier Beam /Supression Pulse
--Regardless of Build, Artanis is one of the heroes that have to watch out how team fights are playing out and watch what heroes he’s playing against for what Heroic to pick. If the enemy team has a few heavy Auto attackers that aren’t getting picked off easy in team fights Go for Supression Pulse. Otherwise Purifier Beam is the way to go
 Level 13

Triple Strike –- Makes Twin Blades hit 3 times instead of 2.
--It’s an always pick for Artanis since his Trait benefits greatly from it.

 Level 16

Zealot Charge  -- When Twin Blades is active it will cause you to charge a short range to your Target.
-–Zealot charge is an always must as it completely changes Artanis’ play style into an aggressive and almost 1 button Hero, and gives him the garentee gap closer he needs.

 Level 20
                       OR

--Nexus Blades -- Basic Attacks deal 20% more damage and slow for 1 second.
--Force of Will -- Makes Basic Attacks reduce your trait CD from 4 seconds per attack to 6 seconds.

--This talent choice mainly follows the same decision making as your Heroic. Mainly since at this point Artanis wants to be in the back line killing assassins and Force of Will, will help keep him up against auto attackers such as Raynor or Valla along with Suppression Pulse. Otherwise you want Nexus Blades for the Slow and extra damage to pair with Purifier Beam to help nuke a specific target.

And Now for the Second Build;
2) Unlucky Solo Warrior /Anti-Blind

 Level 1

Reactive Parry –- Each time you active Twin blades you gain 1 stack of Block. Can store up to 2 charges by using Twin blades Twice without getting attacked.
-–Reactive Parry it pretty much a must as it gives Artanis a surprising amount more of survivability which you will want for his playstyle.

 Level 4

Lethal Alacrity –- Increases the range and speed of Blade Dash by 30%.
-–This Talent gives him a well needed range increase. Once used to his Kit you will be able to pull off some pretty crafty things with the speed increase too! This talent will also benefit you with the Level 7 talent.

 Level 7

Psionic Synergy -- Blade Dash reduces the CD of your Trait by 4 seconds for each hero hit.
-–As a solo tank anything you can do to reduce your trait CD is beneficial to staying up and supporting your team.
 Level 10

Suppression Pulse -- Less attack Damage from everyone for 4 seconds will help keep you up and alive to support your team. (In the case you are using this build for the purpose for countering blinds, and not for solo warrior there is a possibility for Purifier Beam)

 Level 13

Triple Strike –- Makes Twin Blades hit 3 times instead of 2.
--It’s an always picks since his Trait benefits greatly from it.

 Level 16

Zealot Charge -- When Twin Blades is active it will cause you to charge a short range to your Target.
-–Zealot charge is an always must as it completely changes Artanis play style into an aggressive and almost 1 button Hero.
 Level 20

Force of Will -- Makes Basic Attacks reduce your trait CD from 4 seconds per attack to 6 seconds.
-–Makes his trait easier to proc so you can live longer as the solo Warrior or through blinds.

Tips, Tricks,
and Cautions.

1)Use
Blade Dash for; Reaching for a Killing blow, Dodging skill shots, or Hitting Several heroes at the same time which is good for Psionic Synergy talent.

2)Artanis’ Auto attack has a very easy animation to cancel and stutter step to stay attached to enemies.

3)Artanis’ play style changes as the game progresses, starting a little more passive early game, working more and more aggressive with each talent tier.

4) If you get stunned and are stunned or rooted while your Phase Prism hits an enemy, it will pull the enemy to you without moving you. Also vise-versa, if the enemy is rooted and your Phase Prism hits them you will be pulled to them without doing an actual switch.

5) Artanis' Phase Prism has the ability to cancel some channeling abilities and heroics.

6)Artanis’ Trait CD per Auto attack will not proc while blinded, also he will not use Twin Blades while blinded.

7)Phase Prism Will Not pull enemies through your gate, however it will be able to put you behind their gate.

8)Blade Dash IS NOT Unstoppable so if poking with it you can be knocked out, stunned or rooted during the dash and put into a sticky situation.

En’taro Adun Executor do you have what it takes to command the Hierarch of the Daelaam in the Nexus?
