Divergent Gaming Open Tournament: Start the new year with a (Tempo) Storm!

Sun 3rd Jan 2016 - 3:13am Gaming Heroes of the Storm E-Sports

Ladies and Gentlemen,

We at Divergent Gaming are proud and honored to have hosted such a successful tournament, making our New Year's resolution to bring forth quality entertainment and professional gaming into the Heroes of the Storm competitive scene a dream - on the first day of the new year! We reached a record number of viewers, over THIRTEEN HUNDRED, for the tournament, and hundreds of new subscribers, and none of this success would have been possible without your continued support, so we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. But, now you're asking, how did the tournament go?

Well, to start us off, we proudly introduced Tempo Storm's very own professional gamer who competed at Blizzcon 2015, Dreadnaught, in his debut into the casting scene. His performance was excellent and his quality of knowledge truly shined as his commentary and professionalism shined through, and his synergy with his partner and co-host, Zoia, was explosive.

For this particular tournament, we followed the Divergent Gaming fan favorite, Gale Force eSports, lead by their team captain, Mysticleez. Their first match against team NewbFail’em was an impressive match from the start, with both teams showing the finest of competition that we could expect from all present but, as is the nature of Heroes of the Storm, only one team could walk away from this best of one, to which Gale Force was the victor in a 1-0 match on Cursed Hollow. Gale Force’s second opponent was the completely new team, NORF, who made their debut into the competitive gaming scene. They were, unfortunately, unprepared for the onslaught of skill that Gale Force demonstrated, and were defeated in short order. The semi-final matchup against Gale Force was against a team that has competed in our tournaments before: Team Higher Conscious. And, like their last show in the tournament, was an excellent game that went across the board multiple times… but, like their last show in the tournament, they were defeated once again by Gale Force eSports.

The final match up would see two rival teams competing once again. King of Blades Alpha, lead by Darkchimaera. It was the best of three, and both teams played to their limits. In the first game, Gale Force eSports was victorious in a vicious battle that was almost too tense to watch. Coming back hard, King of Blades Alpha secured a resounding victory on Infernal Shrines, completely dominating Gale Force with a series of brilliant plays. Unfortunately, those same brilliant plays backfired upon King of Blades in the third and final match on Battlefield of Eternity, where a mistake was exploited to its maximum potential by Gale Force, and King of Blades was unable to recover. But we’ll let you decide where those mistakes lay, ladies and gentlemen! Here is a Highlights reel of the tournament, where you can see Dreadnaught and Zoia casting in action, and see the best of Gale Force and the teams they competed against.
